Don't get carried away.

❶　「調子に乗ってやりすぎてしまう」「勢いづいてやりすぎてしまう」は英語で：

・get carried away

という表現を使います。

たとえば

I got a bit carried away.
（調子に乗ってちょっとやりすぎちゃった）

Don’t get carried away.
（ほどほどにしてね）

 

❷　よくあるパターンとして「get carried away and 〜」という使い方があります。

たとえば

Don’t get carried away and drink too much.
（勢いづいて飲み過ぎないようにね）

I got carried away and cooked too much food for the party.
（調子に乗って料理を作りすぎちゃった）

I was only going to buy socks but everything was on sale. I got carried away and ended up spending $800!
（靴下だけ買いに行ったけどすべての商品が安くなっていた。調子に乗って800ドルも使ってしまった）

The other day, I went out my friends from college. We got carried away and drank way too much. We forgot that we weren’t young anymore.
（この間、大学時代の友達と遊びに行った。調子に乗って超飲みすぎた。もう若くないんだということを忘れていた）
