「暗黙の了解」は英語で「a tacit understanding」と言います。

「We have」に続けたり
「There is」に続けたりします。

そして「a tacit understanding」には「that節」が続くことが多いです。

たとえば

There is a tacit understanding that we shouldn't talk about that.
（その話題には触れてはいけないという暗黙の了解がある）

We had a tacit understanding that we would let the client win.
（お客さんに勝たせてあげるという暗黙の了解があった）

・「tacit」は「言葉に出さなくても伝わる」という意味の形容詞です。

他にも

a tacit agreement
（暗黙の了解）

a tacit approval
（暗黙の承認）

もありますが、「暗黙のルール」は

an unwritten rule
（書いてないルール）

と別の言い方をするので注意しましょう。

たとえば

I thought I had his tacit approval to borrow the car.
（車を借りてもいいという暗黙の承認があると思っていた）

It's an unwritten rule that you should ask before you pat someone's dog.
（他人の犬を撫でる前に許可を得るべきだという暗黙のルールがある）
